FOREWORD

The faculty of management sciences (FMS) was established in 1980 as one of the founding faculties of Enugu state University of Science and Technology to be a leader in management education preparing managers, entrepreneurs and scholars as industry and community leaders nationwide.

The Faculty is home to eight departments:

  • Department of Accountancy
  • Department of Banking and Finance
  • Department of Business Administration
  • Department of Co-operative and Rural Development
  • Department of Insurance and Risk Management
  • Department of Marketing
  • Department of Mass Communication
  • Department of Public Administration

This edition of the Faculty Handbook contains updated information on the various departments: their philosophy and objectives; admission requirements; staffing; course offerings, credits and descriptions; industrial attachment and research project, thesis and dissertations by students.

The curriculum of each programme offered by the department is as approved by the senate of Enugu State University of Science and Technology and in consonance with the National Universities Commission (NUC) minimumacademic standards.

The handbook is a must have for all students of the Faculty and useful to other students of ESUT taking course in the Faculty of Management Sciences.
It is also useful to Lecturers, Faculty Officers, Courses Advises, Registration  Officers of ESUT as an effective tool for discharging their responsibilities of teaching and guiding the students through their various degree programmes.

Enjoy it.
