Philosophy and Objectives
Enugu State University of science and Technology upholds the philosophy of Nigeria, namely:

- A land of right and full opportunities for all citizens.
Accordingly, the philosophy of Political Science Department is predicted ‘on
the need’ produce a continuous, flow of graduates imbued with the following:
- respect for the value and dignity of the individual,
- respect for rule of law, and constituted authority.
- shared sense of responsibility to behave and work for that common good of the society.
- faith in mans ability to contend with the forces of his environment.
- faith in mans ability to make rational decisions,
- high moral aid spiritual values that will enhance inter-personal and human
relations,
- a desire to acquire national consciousness and f national unit’.
- a desire to acquire adequate knowledge, appropriate Kills, abilities and
competence that will enable tie individual live and contribute effectively
to the Nigerian society.
The Objectives:
The Degree programme afire in the Political Science Department has three basic
objectives. First, it aims at training men and women who will take up
administrative and managerial careers in government, industry, international
organizations and Foreign Service or similar occupations. Second, it is designed
to produce men and women who may pursue advanced studies and careers in
research and teaching, Third, it is geared towards producing a core of policy
planners in the state and Federal complexes who can be relied upon to promote
policy planning with greater interests in technological innovation in Nigeria.
The distinctive roles expected of those who have gone through the programme
will reflect and square with national technological needs and general drive for
rapid social, economic and political modernization. Having gone through a
University of Technology and observed technology at work, they can be relied
upon to dismantle administrative prejudices against technological education and
technological innovation.
Degree Requirements:
Political Science students are required to successfully complete, the University
common courses. Departmental intra and inter faculty courses specified in the
Departmental Programme, All political science majors are required to take full
courses in the areas of Government, political Theory, Public Administration and
International Relations.
The Degree examinations in the final year shall consist of the second semester
courses and any other relevant areas determined by the Departmental
Examination Board.
Entry Requirement
Apart from the general University admission requirements for direct entry and
entrance examination students, a credit in School Certificate or ordinary level
G.C.E, in English Language and at least a pass in Mathematics are required.
