

Until his appointment Prof. Onyeji who is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry was at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife. A seasoned administrator and distinguished academic who has made invaluable contributions in his professional calling at national and international levels, Professor Onyeji was a former Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Chairman, Establishment Committee of the Governing Council of OAU Teaching Hospital and Pioneer H.O.D. Clinical Pharmacy, OAU Ile-Ife. After his Ph.D in 1987, he became Lecturer I at OAU and rose to Senior Lecturer in 1991 and then Reader in 1995 and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 1999.
A seasoned author and researcher, Prof. Onyeji had more than seventy published journal articles, learned conference papers and books to his credit.
Born on August 26, 1957, Prof. Onyeji attended St. Theresa’s College Nsukka where he proved an exceptional scholar with Distinction in his 1975 West African School Certificate. He later attended University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) between 1976 and 1987 where he obtained a B.Pharm. degree, M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmaceutical Chemistry before leaving for University of Connecticut USA (1992 – 1994) for his Post Doctoral and Research Associateship Programme.
Prof. Onyeji is a member of many Professional bodies including American Society for Microbiology, International Society for Study of Xenobiotics, Nigerian Pharmaceutical Society, among others.

Under the Professor Cyprian Onyeji management, there is obvious assurance of a new vision to return this first University of Technology in Nigeria to its past glory and excellence. To achieve these, the Vice Chancellor has mapped out a six point vision and has started its immediate implementation to win the heart of stake-holders including the staff, students, government and the entire academic community.
